Debbie was born in Liverpool in 1971 and after finishing school she decided to go off to catering college to learn to be a chef after training for two years at college full time and working part time at the Atlantic towers hotel in the city centre, After graduating from college in 1989 the bright lights of London beckoned so off she went with no job lined up to the big smoke upon arrival in London she went to a catering agency and was given her first temporary assignment at the national liberal club in Whitehall place in London’s west end as a commis chef, where the head chef Karl was working, little did she know that one day he would become her husband. After one week in the kitchens of this prestigious gentleman’s club she had performed so well that Karl offered her a full time position which she willingly accepted. In 1991 Karl moved to the yacht club on the Thames near temple tube station and Debbie followed soon after. From there in 1993 Debbie went into the city to work for prestigious clients in the merchant banking sector whilst working there she gained positions with Gary Rhodes at the green house restaurant and Anton Adelman the chef de cuisine of the Savoy hotel. By now Debbie had married Karl and they where living in east London and both decided to leave the rat race of the big city and have a quiet life in rural Ireland and both Karl and Debbie went to south Armagh in northern Ireland to open their first restaurant Sergi’s coffee bar and restaurant after five years they decided to move back to England and open a little deli in Lincolnshire and the rest is history.
